Hospital & Health Services

One patient record in the HIS,
with the supporting systems connected to it

Hospitals and health services depend on a hospital information system at the center and dozens of systems around it, all of which handle some of the most sensitive data an organization can hold. InterCloud builds the platforms around the HIS: scheduling, procurement, finance, patient-facing websites and the monitoring that keeps clinical operations running.

Challenges

Challenges in Healthcare

  • Patient data protection

Health data is sensitive personal data under data-protection law such as the PDPA and is subject to medical confidentiality rules. Every access must be authorized, logged and limited to what a role requires, in every system that handles a patient record.

  • HIS integration

The hospital information system is the system of record for patients, encounters and orders. Supporting systems must integrate with it through standards such as HL7 and FHIR or through vendor interfaces, without creating duplicate records.

  • Scheduling and capacity

Clinics, operating rooms, diagnostic equipment and staff must be scheduled together, with waiting times visible and changes communicated to patients promptly.

  • Supplies, pharmacy and finance

Medicines, consumables and equipment require lot and expiry tracking, controlled procurement and costing that reconciles to departments, payers and claims.

How We Help

Keep the Systems Around the HIS Controlled and Visible

Our Approach

Supporting Systems Without Duplicate Patient Records

Your HIS remains the clinical system of record. We integrate with it through HL7, FHIR or the vendor's interfaces, so that the systems we build reference patient identity, encounters and orders in the HIS and hold no duplicate records.

Access to any record linked to a patient is role-based, logged and reviewable, with SSO, two-factor authentication and retention rules agreed with your data protection officer. Audit evidence is produced by the system itself.

The whole environment is monitored by SnowTrack. A failed interface between the pharmacy and the HIS affects patient safety and is treated with the corresponding priority.

  • HL7 / FHIR and vendor-interface integration with the HIS
  • Role-based access and logging for every record linked to a patient
  • Lot and expiry tracking for pharmacy and consumables
  • Monitoring and alerting for interfaces and portals

Outcomes

Typical Outcomes

Hospitals and health services typically engage InterCloud to achieve the following outcomes.

  • Patient data accessed only by authorized roles, with a complete access log
  • Supporting systems integrated with the HIS without duplicate patient records
  • Pharmacy and consumable stock tracked by lot and expiry date
  • Procurement and asset management with enforced approvals and audit trails
  • Interface failures detected before they interrupt clinical workflows
  • Patient information and appointment requests available online in multiple languages

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does InterCloud provide a hospital information system?

No. We build and integrate the systems around your HIS: procurement, inventory, finance, HR, scheduling support, patient-facing websites and monitoring. Your HIS remains the clinical system of record.

How is patient data protected in your platforms?

Access is role-based and logged, authentication supports SSO, two-factor authentication and passkeys, data is encrypted in transit and at rest on AWS, and retention and access-review rules are agreed with your data protection officer during the design phase.

Can InterCloud AI access clinical data?

Only if you decide it should, and then under controls agreed with your information security and clinical governance teams. By default, assistants answer from approved public content and policies and have no access to patient records.
